Current Information:Born-Islington On the evening of 2nd August, 1915, 8th King’s Royal Rifle Corps of 41 Brigade, 14th Division, went into the front line opposite Bellewaarde in the Ypres salient and remained in these positions until 5th August. The battalion diary entry for 3rd August records that, as a result of aggressive German artillery action, there was damage to the trenches and that all telephone communication to the firing line was broken. This three day tour in the front line cost 8th King’s Royal Rifle Corps 75 casualties. |
